Executive Order 13804: Allowing Additional Time for Recognizing Positive Actions by the Government of Sudan and Amending Executive Order 13761

President: Donald J. Trump

Moved EO 13761 Sudan-review dates from July to October 2017 and revoked one subsection.

Status: In effect. Is Executive Order 13804 still in effect? Yes. Executive Order 13804 remains in effect. See Federal Register record.

What does Executive Order 13804 do?

EO 13804 amended EO 13761 by moving three July 2017 dates to October 12, 2017 and revoking section 11, giving the administration more time to review Sudan government actions. OFAC later reported that specified Sudan sanctions were lifted effective October 12, 2017 under EO 13761 as amended. That relief was limited: separate Sudan and Darfur sanctions authorities remained or arose later. EO 13804 did not itself eliminate every sanction on Sudan.

Administration position: The finding of positive Sudan actions was an executive assessment; the legal change covered only specified authorities.
