Executive orders in this collection: presidents and statuses
Counts of the 1,672 guides currently included on EO Explained, with exact data tables beneath both charts.
Snapshot checked October 20, 2026
What these counts measure
Each guide counts once, including the unnumbered Pelican Island reservation and October 19, 2026 women’s health order, as well as the now-numbered EO 14436 Graham Act order. This snapshot uses the authored status conclusion and the actual linked president identity on every guide.
Historical coverage is curated. These charts do not rank presidents by their total output, compare annual issuance rates or provide a census of all American executive orders. A smaller historic count can reflect the selection of guides rather than a president issuing fewer orders. Donald Trump’s two terms are grouped under the same presidential identity here.
Bars start at zero and use the largest count in their own chart as the scale. Compare lengths within a chart, not between the two charts. The tables retain exact counts and ordinary text links for readers who prefer a table, use a screen reader or print the page; color is not needed to read a value.

How to interpret a status count
Every guide has one label in this breakdown, so the categories sum to the collection total. “Partly” describes independently operating legal consequences, not a percentage of a document’s words. An unrevoked termination instrument can be In effect because its rescission continues while its former program has ended. Conversely, an instrument can remain historically relevant after its temporary operation has completed.
Court-related labels require the guide’s actual scope and procedural posture. “Struck down” in the IEEPA tariff guides describes the rejected tariff mechanism, rather than formal judicial revocation of every provision. “Blocked by courts” can reflect relief limited to particular provisions or parties. The number in a bar is not a measure of how much policy a court invalidated.
Use the downloadable data and full label dictionary for the underlying rows and explanations. The status guide, presidential collections and order archive provide routes back to the evidence. A later official action can change a conclusion; downloaded snapshots and static charts retain the date shown above.
