What does Executive Order 12948 do?
EO 12948 moved the deadline for federal environmental-justice strategies under EO 12898 to March 24, 1995. The Department of Transportation sent its final strategy to EPA on that date, an example of agency follow-through on the amended schedule. The document establishes DOT's submission, not that every agency met the deadline or that the strategies produced particular environmental outcomes. EO 14173 revoked the parent order in January 2025.
