Executive Order 13136: Amendment to Executive Order 13090, President's Commission on the Celebration of Women in American History

President: Bill Clinton

Moved a women’s-history commission report deadline from March 1999 to December 2000.

Status: Revoked.

Is Executive Order 13136 still in effect? No. Completed: the commission term ended on December 31, 2000; EO 13225 revoked its parent order as amended in 2001.

What does Executive Order 13136 do?

EO 13136 made a one-line change to EO 13090: it replaced the commission’s March 1, 1999 report deadline with December 31, 2000. The order said the extra time was for developing support systems and testing recommendations in a report already delivered to the President. A National Archives account confirms that the President’s Commission on the Celebration of Women in American History had submitted a report on March 1, 1999 and continued working until December 2000. This amendment did not establish a new museum, fund a project or itself enact the report’s recommendations.

Administration position: The text changed a reporting date in an existing commission order; recommendations still needed separate decisions to be implemented.
