Status: In effect.
Is Executive Order 14205 still in effect? Yes. Active White House office and interagency initiative.

What does Executive Order 14205 do?
The office coordinated agency liaisons and community consultation; grants and other decisions remained with the responsible agencies.
Later primary evidence reviewed September 24, 2026: Labor published a later action on barriers faced by faith organizations in its programs and expressly tied it to this order's Faith Office framework. Official source. The cited steps do not establish every downstream effect.
Reading the operative provisions of Executive Order 14205
EO 14205 creates a White House office to coordinate the administration’s engagement with religious and community organizations. It directs agency heads to designate liaisons and review barriers that faith-based groups may face in federally funded programs. The office can advise, convene meetings, and coordinate policy, but grant decisions remain with the agency that administers the program under its statute and rules.
The order’s religious-liberty direction does not allow a recipient to ignore neutral grant conditions or other legal requirements. Federal agencies must apply rules consistently and may not favor or penalize an organization solely because of its religious character. If a program allows a faith-based provider to compete, the agency still checks eligibility, service standards, financial controls, and restrictions on using federal funds for religious activity.
The Labor Department’s later action cited in this guide is an example of a separate program-specific step tied to the Faith Office framework. It does not establish that every agency changed its grant rules in the same way. For a provider, the current funding notice and agency guidance determine what is allowed. Read Executive Order 14205 in the Federal Register.
The Faith Office’s convening role does not make it the administrator of every federal grant. If an organization believes a department treated it unfairly because of its religious character, the relevant evidence is the agency’s eligibility rule, evaluation record, written decision, and appeal process. The office can help coordinate a response, but only the department with statutory responsibility can modify a grant or issue binding program guidance. The order also directs compliance with law, including protections against religious discrimination.
