Executive Order 13809: Restoring State, Tribal, and Local Law Enforcement's Access to Life-Saving Equipment and Resources
President: Donald J. Trump
Revoked 2015 restrictions on federal support for local police equipment; EO 14074 later revoked it.
Status: Revoked — by EO 14074.
Is Executive Order 13809 still in effect? No. EO 14074 revoked it.
What does Executive Order 13809 do?
EO 13809 expressly revoked EO 13688 and directed agencies to stop implementing its recommendations on federal support for state, tribal and local law-enforcement equipment, consistent with law. It did not itself transfer equipment or override statutory restrictions. EO 14074 expressly revoked EO 13809 in 2022 and introduced different policing policies. Later changes to that replacement do not expressly restore this 2017 directive.
