Executive Order 12980: Further Amendment to Executive Order No. 12852, as Amended
President: Bill Clinton
Expanded the President’s Council on Sustainable Development from 25 to 29 members.
Status: Revoked. Is Executive Order 12980 still in effect? No. Executive Order 12980 was revoked. See Federal Register record.
What does Executive Order 12980 do?
EO 12980 increased the President’s Council on Sustainable Development’s authorized membership from 25 to 29, without changing its advisory powers. The council delivered Sustainable America in 1996, a progress report in 1997 and its final report in May 1999, as recorded by the archived White House council site. Those reports show the council’s work after the membership change, but do not establish that the four additional seats caused any particular recommendation. EO 13138 revoked the parent charter in September 1999.
