Executive Order 13025: Amendment to Executive Order 13010, the President's Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection

President: Bill Clinton

Required an outside-government chair, enlarged the steering committee and raised the critical-infrastructure commission to 15 members.

Status: Completed/expired. Is Executive Order 13025 still in effect? No. Executive Order 13025 is completed or expired. See Federal Register record.

What does Executive Order 13025 do?

EO 13025 changed the temporary critical-infrastructure commission’s structure: it required an outside-government chair chosen from its members, set a five-member steering committee and raised the commission’s membership limit from ten to fifteen. The commission issued Critical Foundations in October 1997. EO 13138 later revoked the advisory-committee provision that EO 13025 had amended, along with other specified provisions; it did not expressly revoke all of EO 13025.

Administration position: The order changed a temporary commission’s structure; it did not itself impose security requirements on infrastructure operators.
