President: Bill Clinton

Expanded the critical-infrastructure advisory committee from 15 to 20 members and extended report-review bodies and staff through March 1998.

Status: Completed/expired. Is Executive Order 13064 still in effect? No. Executive Order 13064 is completed or expired. See Federal Register record.

What does Executive Order 13064 do?

EO 13064 expanded the critical-infrastructure advisory committee from 15 to 20 members and allowed public-sector representation. The Principals, Steering and Advisory Committees could review the commission report until no later than March 15, 1998, with limited retained staff supported by Defense. It also designated the NSC Executive Secretary for specified classification decisions. EO 13138 later revoked the identified advisory-committee provisions; it did not simply revoke every section of EO 13064.

Administration position: The order managed a temporary review process; it did not itself impose cybersecurity duties on private infrastructure operators.
