Executive Order 13634: Reestablishment of Advisory Commission

President: Barack Obama

Restored the presidential advisory commission supporting educational opportunity and attainment for Hispanic students.

Status: Superseded. Is Executive Order 13634 still in effect? No. Executive Order 13634 was superseded. See Federal Register record.

What does Executive Order 13634 do?

EO 13634 reestablished the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics under EO 13555 and reappointed its serving members after the commission’s earlier term ended. Later continuation orders kept the advisory body operating. EO 13935 superseded EO 13555 with a new Hispanic Prosperity initiative in 2020; EO 14045 supplied a subsequent framework in 2021, and EO 14148 revoked that later order in 2025. This order created an advisory body, not a school funding or admissions entitlement.

Administration position: The commission was advisory. It did not set school curricula, allocate education funds or create individual eligibility for federal benefits.
