Executive Order 13555: White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics

President: Barack Obama

Renewed a White House initiative and advisory commission focused on improving educational outcomes for Hispanic students.

Status: Superseded. Is Executive Order 13555 still in effect? No. Executive Order 13555 was superseded. See Executive Order 14045: White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics.

What does Executive Order 13555 do?

EO 13555 directed Education and participating agencies to address achievement gaps, early learning, college access and completion, and family engagement; required agency plans; and created an advisory commission. EO 14045 superseded it with a broader equity initiative in 2021, and the 2025 administration revoked that successor.

Later evidence reviewed September 23, 2026: EO 14148 revoked EO 14045. Federal Register — EO 14148. This later record documents the stated step; it does not by itself establish every downstream agency action or legal outcome.

Administration position: The initiative coordinated federal policy and advice; it did not itself guarantee admission, aid or funding.
