Executive Order 13802: Amending Executive Order 13597
President: Donald J. Trump
Deleted the goal of interviewing 80 percent of nonimmigrant visa applicants within three weeks.
Status: In effect. Is Executive Order 13802 still in effect? Yes. Executive Order 13802 remains in effect. See Federal Register record.
What does Executive Order 13802 do?
EO 13802 deleted section 2(b)(ii) of EO 13597, which had asked State and Homeland Security to ensure that 80 percent of nonimmigrant visa applicants were interviewed within three weeks, subject to stated exceptions. It also directed the departments to revise the related implementation plan as needed. The change removed a presidential scheduling target; it did not change visa eligibility, guarantee an interview or alter statutory security screening.
