What does Executive Order 13078 do?

EO 13078 directed a broad interagency task force to examine benefits, health coverage, accommodation, transport, housing, training, entrepreneurship, data and federal personnel policy. Later amendments added a youth focus and changed membership. The order required a final report by July 26, 2002 and termination 30 days later. Labor identifies the task force’s recommendation as a foundation for Congress’s creation of the permanent Office of Disability Employment Policy.

Administration position: The task force developed recommendations and coordination; it did not itself guarantee a job, benefit or accommodation in an individual case.
