Executive Order 13644: Amendment to Executive Order 13639
President: Barack Obama
Allowed the election administration commission to include members serving in state or local government.
Status: Completed/expired. Is Executive Order 13644 still in effect? No. Executive Order 13644 is completed or expired. See Federal Register record.
What does Executive Order 13644 do?
EO 13644 made a narrow correction to EO 13639. It removed language that would have excluded every person serving in government, allowing current state and local election officials to bring practical expertise to the bipartisan commission. The amendment had no independent continuing program: the commission reported in January 2014 and terminated shortly afterward.
Before and after
Before the order
The original wording risked barring active election administrators from commission service.
After the order
