Executive Order 13708: Continuance or Reestablishment of Certain Federal Advisory Committees
President: Barack Obama
Continued or reestablished selected presidential advisory committees through September 2017 and adjusted several charters.
Status: Completed/expired. Is Executive Order 13708 still in effect? No. Executive Order 13708 is completed or expired. See Federal Register record.
What does Executive Order 13708 do?
EO 13708 preserved a list of presidential advisory committees that otherwise would have terminated under FACA, generally through September 30, 2017. It also made targeted membership and administrative changes. The extension period passed, and later presidents issued new biennial continuation orders or dealt with particular councils separately, so current status must be determined committee by committee rather than from this 2015 order.
Before and after
Before the order
The covered committees faced automatic termination without presidential action.
After the order
They could continue for two more years unless separately ended or rechartered.

What happened next

The general continuation period ended.
