Status: In effect. Is Executive Order 13827 still in effect? Yes. Executive Order 13827 remains in effect. See Federal Register record.
What does Executive Order 13827 do?
EO 13827 prohibited US persons and transactions within the United States from dealing in digital currency, coins or tokens issued by, for or on behalf of the Government of Venezuela on or after January 9, 2018. It built on the Venezuela national emergency and responded to the government-backed petro. It did not ban all digital assets or all dealings with Venezuela. OFAC still lists the order, and current licenses and regulations must be checked for a specific transaction.
