Executive Order 13834: Efficient Federal Operations
President: Donald J. Trump
Set federal facility and fleet efficiency goals; a later sustainability order replaced it.
Status: Revoked — by EO 14057.
Is Executive Order 13834 still in effect? No. EO 14057 revoked it.
What does Executive Order 13834 do?
EO 13834 directed federal agencies to meet statutory energy, water, waste, procurement and facility performance duties in a cost-effective way and to track progress. It revised prior sustainability policy but did not remove the underlying statutes. EO 13990 revoked some provisions in 2021, and EO 14057 expressly revoked the remaining order in December 2021. Later rescission of EO 14057 did not itself specify a restoration of EO 13834; current agency requirements must be traced separately.
